When to Use Fire Rated Glazing

As a leading provider of fire rated glass, Bear Glass gives architects and designers unlimited freedom to create safe, functional and beautiful spaces. Common applications of our fire and safety rated products include:

• Openings, doors or wall systems in corridors, lobbies and other areas of a building that could serve as an escape route during a fire.
• Schools, dormitories, gymnasiums, airport terminals and other high-traffic facilities where impact with the glass should also be a concern.
• Nursery rooms, patient rooms, operating rooms, observation rooms, laboratories and other large vision areas in hospitals and medical facilities where visibility, daylighting and life safety is required.
• Museums and historical renovations where glazing provides clear, unobstructed views and protection to valuable artistic and historical pieces.
• Stairwells and parking garages where transparency and the open feeling of glass provide added security.
• Curtainwalls for commercial and residential construction along property lines, high risk fire zones, wildfire areas and other instances where the threat of fire is coming from outside.

FR I-XL is a patented breakthrough, monolithic technology that reduces the transfer of radiant heat by reflecting heat back towards the fire source. It minimizes the threat of scorching heat which can limit the safe egress of occupants and can cause the fire to spread to adjacent areas.
FR I-XL Product Advantages (20-60 minute radiant heat reducing)

• Patented specialty tempered glazing providing partial radiant heat protection at a better value than any ceramic product.
• Has been accepted by the GSA and AHJ’s across the country as an economical alternative to traditional wired glass and ceramics.
• Meets CPSC Cat. I and II impact safety without films or lamination.
• Approved for 20 minute applications without limitations.
• Regularly specified for use in urban-wildfire exterior applications and property divisions.
• Available in specialty architectural make-ups.
• USA manufactured for fast delivery and competitive pricing.

FR I-XL IGU patented technology now affords fire-rated products to have energy performance similar to all insulated units. FR I-XL IGU provides the highest energy efficiency available in fire protective products as well as radiant heat protection which is not provided by most 45 or 60 minute fire protective exterior products.
FR I-XL IGU Product Advantages (20-60 minute insulated radiant heat reducing)

• Patented specialty tempered glazing providing bi-directional partial radiant heat protection at a better value than any ceramic product.
• Has been accepted by the GSA and AHJ’s across the country as an economical alternative to traditional wired glass and ceramics.
• Meets CPSC Cat. I and II impact safety without films or lamination.
