Sharpen Your Lust For Glass in Restaurants By Bear Glass

Glass is a great surfacing material to use in restaurants interiors.  With a high-end look that is easy to maintain and limitless in its customization options, glass can also add useful features to the interior of a restaurant while adding function, reduced maintenance and good looks for years to come. Glass  comes in so many varieties: tinted, back-paintedmirroredacid etched, and even clear that you’re sure to find a type that can enhance the interior for any restaurant or food service environment.

Below are 5 Ways To Sharpen Your Lust For Glass in Restaurants:

1) Specials Boards in Restaurants:

Being able to erase dry erase, wet erase and chalk markers from the surface makes glass the perfect message board for writing specials, messages, and other information for patrons. The one shown above was made out of tinted gray for a semi-translucent effect. It’s hung using standoffs with the glass fabricated with holes to accommodate the hardware.

2) Table Toppers in Restaurants:

This is one of the most practical uses of glass in restaurants,…as a table topper to protect the wood or metal table underneath. A thin, tempered piece can be back painted any color so that it enhances the restaurants branded color scheme as linens would but doesn’t need to be replaced after each patron. Spills, drips, and splatters can be easily cleaned up and it will look good as new for the next customer. We’ve also seen clear glass table toppers used over fine linens, and that’s a good way to prevent having to do a ton of laundry.

3) Prep Area Feature Wall in Restaurants:

A wall of color glass in a prep area draws attention to where all the action happens and provides a surface that is easy to clean at the end of the night. With the ability to be any custom color, it can create a beautiful way to draw customers in.

4) BarTops in Restaurants:

A bar top using acid etched glass can create sultry backlit bars that can enhance a mood in the restaurants or lounge. Easy to keep clean, and with a surface that won’t wash off, acid etched also resists finger prints so servers can focus on simply serving the customer.

5) Glassware Walls in Restaurants:

Like the bar tops, when an acid etched glass is backlit, it can create a mood that invigorates patrons and enhances the environment. The way the light plays, not only through the acid etched glass but through the glassware and colored liquids in bottles creates a cool vibe that can enhance the brand.

But there are so much more ways to use glass in restaurants and food service design! Put Antique Mirror On It

Antique Mirror furniture has been hot for a few years now, and its appeal is hard to ignore. Mirrored furniture brightens up dark corners in ways that nothing else can. It adds a touch of old glamor instantly and it feels powerfully feminine. With one piece, luxury and power can be interjected into any room. It will be a trend we will continue to see for a while longer because of the flexibility these pieces can provide.

You can take lots of ordinary pieces of furniture, places and elevate them by adding this mirror to them. Sure, there are plenty of lovely elaborate and elegant pieces of mirrored furniture out there. But if you want to give a piece extra life and repurpose it, adding this mirror is an extremely easy way to do it.

Varities of antique-mirrors
Varieties of antique mirrors

Antique mirrors are mirrors that look aged or distressed by years of use and exposure. While you still occasionally find a mirror that comes by this effect naturally, more commonly it’s been achieved intentionally to achieve a soft, cloudy pattern. Bear Glass  Antique Mirror achieves this effect as a first-quality product, that has the look of a vintage mirror with all the advantages of a modern mirror: The Opaque backing paint that protects the metal layers during transport and installation

Modern silvering technology for a durable, predictable reflection. The effect of these Mirrors by Bear Glass are a wonderful tool in interior environments. The reflection of mirror creates excitement and intimacy while opening u space visually. Hotels, restaurants, bars, and homes can all benefit from the instant mood a vintage mirrors can provide. In the example below, antique mirror seems perfectly at home paired with the exposed wood and brick in a rustic restaurant and bar:

This stately dining room uses a vintage mirror to lengthen the room, but the bronze tint to the glass itself helps prevent visual confusion and warms the space to make it feel more intimate and appealing.

One thing the below lobby did not need more of was more wood paneling. Using decorative mirror glass panels is a welcome addition to the textural elements within the space. The reflection of the vintage mirror is always changing depending on the visitors that day.

Restaurant Mirror

A regular wall of mirror in this casual restaurant would have felt too crisp, …not to mention a little optically confusing. The antique mirror surface adds a more relaxed feel to the room and prevents patrons from walking into it. This is where the unique feature of Dreamwalls Antique Mirror’s large size capability is so important.

Consider using this Mirror in either regular or bronze tones for your next hospitality installation. It can make a subtle statement without going glitzy and can lighten the spaces with reflected light and visual space.

Bevelrite Customers Are Now Being Serviced By Bear Glass

Bevel-Rite was a custom fabricator of mirror and plate glass that was located at 501 Prospect St. Unit 110  Lakewood, NJ 08701. In September 1980, they were the first beveling company in the the state of New Jersey and had grown to be a leading source to the glass and mirror industry.

Unfortunately because Bevelrite closed they’re doors this past year and their customers were left with few alternatives. The owner Jason Glago wanted to help his long standing customers with their glass and mirror business so he came to the best. He formed a relationship with upper management at Bear Glass and Bevelrite is now associated with Bear Glass.

Bevelrite used to fabricate high polished edges, beveled edges, miters, holes, and special cut outs, as well as ogee edges for special  shapes and circles and was a distributor of many different types of stock sizes of glass and mirror.

At Bear Glass we can do all of this plus a whole lot more. Bear Glass is a full Glass Fabricator in Brooklyn, NY. We are third generation glaziers. We are at our current location for over 30 years. Mirror Re-silvering By Bear Glass

Who does not want to take a look of him or herself at a mirror? And it always brings back the nostalgia if the mirror is an old one. For an old mirror it is natural that it would be a little discolored or fade, as that adds a different charm to its character. But neither for the old nor for a new mirror we expect a fade reflection or spots on the mirror glass.

A mirror, especially a good quality mirror is made of a high-grade glass with silver backing. When this silver-backing is damaged, we find discolorations, marks or scratches on the mirror glass which could not only ruin the look of that furniture but also the view of the whole room. And therefore the damage pieces need re-silvering to bring them back to their old states.

Bear Glass can provide the best mirror re-silvering service for you. For more than forty years Bear Glass has proven its expertise in all kind of glass works nationwide.

Silvering is mainly the chemical process of coating a glass with a reflective substance. Earlier silver was coated on the glass surface. But later sputtering powdered aluminum or other compounds are used in the place of silver. Therefore today, this process is also known as aluminizing.

Bear Glass uses modern technology of aluminum silvering for mirror re-silvering. In this process, a sheet of glass is placed in a vacuum chamber along with electrically heated nichrome coils to sublime the aluminum. The hot aluminum atoms travel at a straight line in vacuum, when they hit the surface of the mirror or glass, they cool and stick to it. Afterwards it needs either an evaporation of quartz onto the glass, or to get exposed in the open air or pure oxygen to form the layer of aluminum oxide.

Bear Glass does both front-silvered and back-silvered mirror re-silvering in this process. Most of the household mirrors are back silvered, which gives the glass a primary protection from corrosion or other damages.

Bear Glass does mirror re-silvering for all kinds of mirror-glass. If you find your household or showroom mirror was affected or damaged, bring it to Bear Glass. We guaranty you a satisfaction that you have never had before. We ship our glass-products nationwide.

Our S tarphire glass line has increased by adding 5/16 to complete Bear Glass’s line.  We stock S tarphire glas s from 1/8-1.  Starphire glass free of the green cast inherent in ordinary clear float glass. Starphire glass is the ideal solution for emphasizing sunny atriums, entranceways, reception areas, lobbies or entire building facades. In retail storefronts and displays, it allows the displayed products’ true colors to shine through.

Bear Glass has also added 1/4 grey and bronze lam i and have the largest selection of stock lami around!  Bear Glass also has the ability to make any custom lami you may need. Laminated glass is a multifunctional glazing material that can be used in a variety of applications. It is manufactured permanently bonding two or more glass lights with polyvinyl butyric (PVB) interlayer’s, under heat and pressure, to create a single construction. If broken by impact, laminated glass tends to maintain the building envelope by remaining integral in its frame. This minimizes the risk of injury from sharp edges and flying or falling glass particles. It also strongly resists penetration of objects. Laminated glass is particularly suitable where it is important to ensure integrity of the whole sheet after breakage.
