Our handmade antique mirrors have a natural and artistic finish, making each piece unique. Mirror antiquing, also known as distressed mirrors, is an important part of the design repertoire, transforming time and space. We offer multiple techniques to meet varying design requests. There are two distinctly different categories of Antique Mirrors. One has a decorative appearance while the other offers a more European style or realistic old world look and feel. Within each category are many styles to meet your requirements. Additionally, we welcome custom design requests.

Our Antiqued Mirrors are in homes, restaurants, casinos, on furniture and in hotels globally. We take pride in every custom Antique Mirror created and attention to detail is always our first and foremost concern.

Unfortunately many Antique Mirrors today are NOT HAND MADE, rather imported, mass-produced and machine made, which do not have an authentic old world look.  Please Beware. Also we do have antique mirror stock sheets available, if desired.

Mirror Resilvering

Each Antique mirror has its one unique look and feel, such as type of bevel, etching / engraving, shape, seeds/bubbles, waves and glass color. Many are irreplaceable heirlooms which long to be restored to their original reflective brilliance and luster. In order to accomplish this we remove the original tarnished reflective coating, clean the original glass and redeposit a fresh silver layer then seal the silver to protect the reflective coating. This process will give an Antique Mirror its original clarity and reflective brilliance it originally had.

Glass Silvering

Glass silvering / mirroring is accomplished by chemically depositing a unique silver solution on glass creating a high quality reflective surface. Since our process is hand crafted, we not only deposit clear silver (Mirror) on glass, we have the ability to create an Antique Mirror as well.

Depending on the speed and angle the abrasive is being applied, different shades can be created, allowing the glass to be a true work of art. Carving on the other hand is when steadily sandblasting is done to the surface of a glass using stencil which protects the areas you don’t want to be carved out. Resin Stained Glass is one of the new processes by Bear Glass when you can lay down just any design you want on the glass in variety of colors. The resin is applied to the outer layer of glass, using a stained resin machine. Bear Glass applies the resin also to mirrored glass. Traditional handcrafted Resin Stained Glass by Bear Glass has long been recognized for its beauty and dazzling visual impact.

Bear Glass does not use any lead strips in the process of making the Resin Stained Glass but instead uses UV stable, colorfast acrylic resins. The acrylic resin is extremely durable and one can easily compare it with a toughened glass.

Bear Glass can do a whole range of standard Resin Stained Glass designs, still we believe on the visions of our customers. Resin Stained Glass by Bear Glass can really transform a dull back door piece of glass or be used to make a big centerpiece in a landing or hallway. Patterned glass is a not-perfectly-smooth structure with different patterns impressed on it. The depth, size and shape of the patterns largely determine the magnitude and direction of reflection. Patterned glass or Decorative glass by Bear Glass usually transmits only slightly less light than clear glass. It can be used for a variety of applications like interior design and decorations, furniture, windows, street furniture etc.

Patterned glass by Bear Glass is made with a rolled glass process. All rolled patterned glass begins as a batch of materials, including silica sand, soda, and lime. These materials are melted together in a tank, and then the molten glass mixture is fed onto a machine slab. The glass flows under a refractory gate which controls glass volume and speed then moves between two counter-rotating, water-cooled rollers. One of these rollers is embossed, imprinting a distinct pattern onto the soft surface of the glass while the other roller is smooth.

The result is a piece of glass that is patterned and textured on one side, while smooth on the reverse. The distance between the two rollers determines the ultimate thickness of the glass. After it moves between the rollers, patterned glass is annealed or cooled slowly in order to remove any residual stresses. Rolled patterned glass can then be cut by the expert artisans of Bear Glass into standard sizes or cut into customized sizes for a specific customer application.

Some popular patterns, known as camphor glass, combined the use of clear glass with an acid-finished design.

Basically patterned glass has a pattern impressed on one side of the glass which prevents someone from seeing though it, for privacy. Pattern glass can also be ordered in various tints as well. A common application of this sort is when used in privacy walls to separate one room from another. Patterned glass is not-perfectly-smooth structure with different patterns impressed on it.
