Bullet-Proof glass is an optically transparent material which is resistant to particular bullets and projectiles, keeping the people and objects on the other side of the glass safe from fatal attacks. What is a bulletproof glass made of? While a bullet resistant glass goes by the name of ‘bulletproof glass’ among the common folk, it is simply not possible to create a completely bulletproof glass which maintains its optical transparency and visibility even after an attack. Bulletproof glass is just a sandwich of few layers of glasses rendering it resistant from a bullet. There are two types of bullet resistant glass:- Solid Acrylic:- As the name suggests, solid acrylic bullet resistant glass is a material made up of a solid acrylic layer of either 1-1/4” or 1-3/8” layer thickness, depending upon the level of protection needed. Laminated Polycarbonate: – A laminated polycarbonate bulletproof glass is made by sandwiching a layer of polycarbonate, a clear heavy duty plastic. The layers are then laminated together. While the exterior layers of glass shatter due to the oncoming bullet, the interior layers absorb the bullet’s energy and stops it from penetrating the whole piece of glass. The latest form of bullet resistant glass is one-way bulletproof glass, made by laminating two layers, brittle glass, and polycarbonate. This type of bullet resistant glass is commonly used in armored vehicles. The threat side of the glass, the side facing the bullets has brittle glass. When a glass suffers a bullet attack, the brittle glass breaks on the interior, towards the polycarbonate layer. The event of glass breaking absorbs some of the energy of the striking bullet and spreads it over the second layer. Finally, the flexible polycarbonate layer stops the bullet to save your life. It is important to mention that the quality of bulletproof glass can vary, and we deliver them according to the choice and preferences of the customers. How does Bear Glass Bullet Proof Glass work? Bear Glass Bullet Proof Glass is made to look just like ordinary glass, at first glance but is made to withstand one to several rounds of bullet fire. The process of layering of a flexible polycarbonate material between two pieces of ordinary glasses gives it the strength of resisting even a 7.62 mm AK 47 round. Bear Glass, the best bulletproof glass installer in New York, manufactures bullet resistant glass made of polycarbonate, thermoplastic and layers of laminated glass. Our bulletproof glass gives you protection from low-intensity blast as well. The laminated glass, manufactured by us, provides protection similar to multi-layered bullet resistant glass and also gives a better tint free optical accuracy. Our bulletproof glass can be installed anywhere, ranging from Art Galleries, Liquor Stores, Jewelry Shops, Banks, Government Buildings, Cash Counter of Stores to Post Offices and Combat or Security Vehicles. On the event of gunfire, the outer layer of the bullet resistant glass experiences the attack and absorb an amount of energy of the striking bullet. This causes the area surrounding the impact to shatter. The inner layer absorbs the remaining energy and stops the bullet. When a bullet is fired from the other side of the glass, it passes through the glass as the energy and force of the bullet are concentrated on a small area. This causes the brittle outer layer to break outwards, allowing the bullet to pass through. To know more, please contact us during our business hours.

Patterned glass is a not-perfectly-smooth structure with different patterns impressed on it. The depth, size and shape of the patterns largely determine the magnitude and direction of reflection. Patterned glass or Decorative glass by Bear Glass usually transmits only slightly less light than clear glass. It can be used for a variety of applications like interior design and decorations, furniture, windows, street furniture etc. Patterned glass by Bear Glass is made with a rolled glass process. All rolled patterned glass begins as a batch of materials, including silica sand, soda, and lime. These materials are melted together in a tank, and then the molten glass mixture is fed onto a machine slab. The glass flows under a refractory gate which controls glass volume and speed then moves between two counter-rotating, water-cooled rollers. One of these rollers is embossed, imprinting a distinct pattern onto the soft surface of the glass while the other roller is smooth. The result is a piece of glass that is patterned and textured on one side, while smooth on the reverse. The distance between the two rollers determines the ultimate thickness of the glass. After it moves between the rollers, patterned glass is annealed or cooled slowly in order to remove any residual stresses. Rolled patterned glass can then be cut by the expert artisans of Bear Glass into standard sizes or cut into customized sizes for a specific customer application. Some popular patterns, known as camphor glass, combined the use of clear glass with an acid-finished design. Basically patterned glass has a pattern impressed on one side of the glass which prevents someone from seeing though it, for privacy. Pattern glass can also be ordered in various tints as well.
