Why Water Jet Cutting?

Bear Glass uses a Pure Water Jet Cutting Machine manufactured by Perfect Technology Center. The Water jet system is an ideal machine for the cutting of various materials and is extremely versatile compared to alternative machinery such as lasers and plasmas. Water jet cutting is performed with “pure water” for the cutting of – foam, package products, gaskets, gibson board, carpet, food, rubber, and many other soft materials.  The power of this pure water jet is so strong it has the ability to cut  – steel, copper, aluminum, granite, marble, and even laminated glass. The Waterjet cutting process does not generate heat; eliminating the warping of materials like copper and aluminum. Based on the media to be cut, Bear Glass is proud to say that we offer PTC water jets that offer cutting systems with cut speeds that will exceed 4000 inches per minute. Resin Stained Glass is one of the new processes by Bear Glass when you can lay down just any design you want on the glass in variety of colors. The resin is applied to the outer layer of glass, using a stained resin machine. Bear Glass applies the resin also to mirrored glass. Traditional handcrafted Resin Stained Glass by Bear Glass has long been recognized for its beauty and dazzling visual impact.

Bear Glass does not use any lead strips in the process of making the Resin Stained Glass but instead uses UV stable, colorfast acrylic resins. The acrylic resin is extremely durable and one can easily compare it with a toughened glass.

Then an epoxy resin is poured between each piece to create the structural matrix. Finally, the resin is covered with a layer of colored granules.

Bear Glass combines the resin stain with silk screening and glass grooving to create even more texture and depth in your design. For came colors you aren’t limited as you are with traditional leaded beveled glass designs.  With Resin Stained glass by Bear Glass you can have red, white, taupe, gun metal, just about any color you want.

One thing to note here is that Resin Stained Glass isn’t a good choice if one just needs a handful of pieces. But for doing multiple pieces this is a beautiful solution for unlimited design capabilities.

One big difference between the Resin Stained Glass and traditional decorative leaded beveled glass is, you can make dual IG units out of them as the Resin stain is applied to tempered glass also.

Patterned glass is a not-perfectly-smooth structure with different patterns impressed on it. The depth, size and shape of the patterns largely determine the magnitude and direction of reflection. Patterned glass or Decorative glass by Bear Glass usually transmits only slightly less light than clear glass. It can be used for a variety of applications like interior design and decorations, furniture, windows, street furniture etc.

Patterned glass by Bear Glass is made with a rolled glass process. All rolled patterned glass begins as a batch of materials, including silica sand, soda, and lime. These materials are melted together in a tank, and then the molten glass mixture is fed onto a machine slab. The glass flows under a refractory gate which controls glass volume and speed then moves between two counter-rotating, water-cooled rollers. One of these rollers is embossed, imprinting a distinct pattern onto the soft surface of the glass while the other roller is smooth.

The result is a piece of glass that is patterned and textured on one side, while smooth on the reverse. The distance between the two rollers determines the ultimate thickness of the glass. After it moves between the rollers, patterned glass is annealed or cooled slowly in order to remove any residual stresses. Rolled patterned glass can then be cut by the expert artisans of Bear Glass into standard sizes or cut into customized sizes for a specific customer application.

Some popular patterns, known as camphor glass, combined the use of clear glass with an acid-finished design.

Basically patterned glass has a pattern impressed on one side of the glass which prevents someone from seeing though it, for privacy. Pattern glass can also be ordered in various tints as well. In this process, a sheet of glass is placed in a vacuum chamber along with electrically heated nichrome coils to sublime the aluminum. Afterwards it needs either an evaporation of quartz onto the glass, or to get exposed in the open air or pure oxygen to form the layer of aluminum oxide.
